Unique Features Tutorial: Pt 1 by jeinu Unique Features Tutorial: Pt 1 by jeinu
Hey! I have two webcomics where you can see this in action: Miamaska and Trial of the Sun. If you liked these tutorials give them a shot!

part 2: female faces here fav.me/d2k4ym6
part 3:male faces here fav.me/d3a6v8u

WELL ! I felt like making a handful of tutorials after taking some notes for myself and this is the result. I hope somebody out there finds this a little helpful. The next two parts will focus solely on faces, and i think everyone will find them much more interesting. Just wanted to get this one out of the way first.

See if you can guess all the characters on the bottom !!! All are copyrighted to their respective owners, I do not claim ownership to any of them.

Honestly, from the silhouettes I could only make out Mickey and Bugs. However, your advice is certainly a wake up call! I'll try to vary my seven characters body shapes. But considering only two of the are have hit puberty, I'll have to find other ways.

You know what...you're right! You're completely right! I'll try making my characters different.

Really useful! I've been stuck making the same bodied characters for quite a while so this will help me get out of that rut!

And that's how Medic lost his medical license.

Thank you so much for this! There are tons of resources for female characters but if you are like me and have 7 male characters...well, it becomes so much harder to try and make them physically unique.

Quick question: have you any tips for creating a male body/face structure that is fairly feminine? I am creating a character that is described has having a feminine build but I'm not sure what the best features to exaggerate/soften are.

Thanks again!

I do have some tips regarding that in part 3, towards the top. For body structure specifically, I would actually recommend doing an exercise where you draw the character as the opposite sex a few times (and each time, give a different body structure; curvy, slight, athletic, etc). This'll help you to recognize what you want from the design (narrower shoulders, less muscular build) as well as what you don't want (perhaps breasts and an hourglass figure might be too girly).
